Winter Storm Warning

I am sure you are all aware by now that we are under a winter storm warning here in Virginia. Part of me is super excited for the snow and another part of me is disappointed because that may mean that many of the events that are planned for this weekend here at the church may be canceled due to inclement weather.

If events are canceled/postponed due to inclement weather, you can find out via WHSV channel 3, or on the radio on WLTK 103.3FM, WBTX 1470AM, or WNLR115. I will also try to post updates here as they come (and as long as I have internet/electricity!)

Bulletin Announcements for December 20th, 2009:

New Year's Worship and Prayer Night in the auditorium, Thursday, December 31 beginning at 9:30pm with fellowship and snacks. There will be no PowerNight on January 3rd.

CCS Annual Indoor Yard Sale will be on Saturday, Jan. 9th, 2010. Doors will open at 8:00am. All proceeds will benefit the CCS Annual Fund. CCS will accept any donations of “new or used stuff” during the week of Jan. 4.

Annual Sip and Swap will be taking place on Saturday, January 30th, 2010. More information will be coming soon!!

In the chance that we do not see each other this weekend, I wish each and every one of you a very merry and safe Christmas and a happy and blessed New Year.

Financial Peace University

Karen and Ken Gonyer will be leading "Financial Peace University," a 13-week class sponsored by Park View Federal Credit Union’s Broadway Branch Office and hosted by Cornerstone Church of Broadway. Church members are encouraged to register for this practical and proven class as part of Winter Bible School. It will also be open to the public.

Classes begin January 12, 6:30 pm and consist of 1-hour of DVD presentation by Dave Ramsey followed by a 1-hour period of group work facilitated by the Gonyers.

There will be a free preview on Sunday, January 3 after the church service.
The cost is $99 per family and includes tuition, workbook, tools, a copy of Dave Ramsey’s bestselling “Financial Peace”, and a set of audio CDs containing all of the material presented in the class. Childcare is provided.

Those who have taken the class before (“alumni”) are welcome to take it again at no charge.

Reminder About Youth Spaghetti Dinner

The youth are planning an Encounter Retreat between Christmas and New Years. A team of about 20 youth from the Florida church led by Pastor Nate will be leading the encounter. To help cover the costs of the encounter the youth will be serving a meal for the congregation following the service this Sunday, December 13th, 2009 on a donation basis. This will provide the congregation an opportunity to bless the youth and invest in their spiritual growth. Let's support them. Even if you don't stay for the meal you may want to consider making a contribution. You can designate it on your offering envelope as Youth encounter.

Thanks

Pastor Gerald

Community Harvest

Cornerstone Church of Broadway has been blessed by being able to give back to the community through Community Harvest Food Pantry. Community Harvest is open on the second and third Sunday's of each month, from 12:30PM until 1:30PM.

Community Harvest strives to serve those in Broadway and other surrounding communities, our primary goal being to never turn away someone in need. However, today's tough economic times make it difficult to meet the needs without assistance.

There are many ways that you and your family can become involved with Community Harvest, either through monetary, through donation of items on our current wish list, or simply by donating your time and energy.

For more information, please contact the office and we will be happy to put you in touch with those that can help you.
